Irradiated JCO worker dies after 83-day battle

Hisashi Ouchi, 35, a worker at the JCO Co. uranium processing plant in Tokaimura, Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan who suffered massive exposure to radiation during a criticality accident on Sept. 30 at the plant, died Tuesday night at a Bunkyo Ward, Tokyo, hospital doctors said. His death is the first human fatality resulting from a nuclear accident at a Japanese facility.
