The state government has raised the irrigation duty after a gap of 17 years despite pressure from the far lobby.It has proposed to increase duty by 100 per cent, which will fetch Rs 15 crore in the current financial year. Despite this increase, the cost of recovery will be much higher, around Rs 40 crore.
