The company involved in a nuclear accident in Japan last week will withdraw from the nuclear fuel business, the Nihon Keizai Shimbun newspaper reported. It said parent Sumitomo Metal Mining Co Ltd had said wholly owned subsidiary JCO Co would close down, citing the likelihood that the government will revoke its licence. No immediate comment from Sumitomo Metal Mining was available. JCO will continue to exist until compensation and other issues are resolved, the newspaper said.
