Hiroharu Kitani, president of JCO Co., whose uranium-reconversion plant in Tokaimura, Ibaraki Prefecture, was the site of Japan's worst nuclear accident, announced Saturday that the company would pay 30,000 yen to 50,000 yen in compensation to local residents instructed to evacuate following the accident.
