Joint Forest Committees work better in MP

Bhopal : A three-day regional technical workshop on making Green India Mission more effective was held at Jabalpur recently. The workshop was informed by Director General Forests and Special Secretary Forests and Environment, Government of India P.J. Dilip Kumar that better work has been done by Joint Forest Committees in Madhya Pradesh. Benefit of these works and experiences should be introduced to other states also. The workshop was participated by Madhya Pradesh’s Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Ramesh M. Dave and senior officers from Bihar, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh. Keralas’ former Principal Chief Conservator of Forests K.B. Thampi, Joint Secretary Environment and Forests, Government of India Dr. B.M.S. Rathore represented the Union Government. Senior consultant of Win Rock International Chetan Agrawal also attended the workshop. The main objective of the workshop is to chalk out guidelines for running the works of Green India Mission in various states. The officers present on the occasion presented their suggestions.
The Director General Forests also inspected various works being undertaken by the Forest Department in Madhya Pradesh. He visited various places and forest villages in Jabalpur and Seoni forest circles. He also inspected plantation work along Narmada bank undertaken by Narsingh Ranga. The Director General Forests also visited several places in Dindori and Mandla districts.
The forest department has recently provided members of Joint Forest Committes with LPG connections in Mehgaon forest circle of Mandla district. Members of the committees urged the Director General to provide LPG connections to all the families living in the forest circle.
On the conclusion of his tour, the Director General Forests also inspected National Fossil Park’s museum in Dudhwa.
