A new non-conventional energy system using solar power is being promoted in the country, hit by frequent outages and blackouts following demand outstripping electricity generation. Claimed to be an efficient utiliser of solar energy, the fledging one that had emerged after years of research in the West is called the Solar Dish Stirling (SDS) system. It could prove to be an ideal one for rural energy requirement, especially irrigation pumpsets.
