Korea Electric Power Corp. (KEPCO) yesterday dedicated the first of two 200,000 kW thermal power plants which will use domestically produced anthracite coal in Tonghae, Kangwon Province, officials said yesterday. Unit 1 of the Tonghae Thermal Power Plant was completed after three years and seven months after construction begun in February 1995. Construction of the No. 2 power station began in May 1996 and will be dedicated in September next year. A total of 456 billion won ($370 million) was earmarked to build the two units of the thermal power station.
