Experts : Leptospirosis disease, lesser known and difficult to diagnose, is fast emerging as a major public health porblem in villagers and cities in India, warn experts. Speaking at a round table discussion organised on leptospirosis by Ranbaxy Science Foundation here, S C Sehgal, director, Regional Medical Research centre , Port Blair, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, said leptosporosis has a wide variety of animals as host which pass on the infecion to man.
