A liver transplant has been successfully perfomred at the Apollo Hospital in Chennai. The hospital claimed that this was the first "successful" effort to transplant a liver in the country. Previously the procedure has been performded both at the All Indian Institute of Medical Sciences and also at Apollo, Chennai but the patients survived for a very short period.
