The drive launched by the Bangalore traffic police against autorikshaw drivers who were using kerosene for the vehicles has come not a day too soon. The City police have booked cases against 200 autorikshaw drivers in this regard for contravention of the Essential Commodities Act. But it passes one's comprehension as to why these erring drivers have not been charged with polluting the atmosphere. The damage being inflicted on the City environment by the fumes emitted by automobiles in Bangalore is beyond imagination. (Editorial)
