Lowest rainfall in Indore division

Indore is the only division in Madhya Pradesh where copious rainfall has not lashed so far. Though Indore district has come under the category of average rainfall due to recent downpour, but five out of its eight districts – Dhar, Khargone, Barwani, Jhabua, Alirajpur and Burhanpur – are under the category of less rainfall. Only Khandwa district in the division has received copious downpour, which is 35 percent more than the average. Besides, Shahdol and Anuppur districts in Shahdol division, Harda in Narmadapuram division and Balaghat district in Jabalpur division are also awaiting good rains. Copious rainfall has been registered in six out of ten divisions of the state including Ujjain, Gwalior, Chambal, Rewa, Sagar and Bhopal. Nine percent less rainfall has been registered in Shahdol district and 11 percent less rain in Anuppur district of Shahdol division. Similarly, 14 percent less rain has been registered than average in Harda district of Narmadapuram division and 20 percent less rain in Balaghat district of Jabalpur division. While Jabalpur, Nargsinghpur, Chhindwara and Mandla districts have received more than average rainfall. Taken together, Madhya Pradesh has received 561.6 mm rainfall against the average of 400.1 mm by July 28, which is 40 percent more than the average downpour. In eastern Madhya Pradesh, 623.8 mm rainfall has been registered against the average of 444.4 mm and 512.9 mm downpour has lashed against the average of 365.6 mm in western Madhya Pradesh.
