The core size of the Madhya Pradesh annual plan for the current fiscal has been fixed at Rs 5,703 crore with the option to hike it further if the State is able to raise its own resources. This was arrived at a meeting between the Planning Commission Deputy Chairman, Mr K.C. Pant, and the Chief Minister, Mr Digvijay Singh. In his preliminary observations, Mr Pant praised the State Government's initiative relating to integrated watershed development, universalisation of education through guarantee scheme and management of public hospitals through community participation.
