Malaria outbreak in East Kameng

ITANAGAR, July 21: Coinciding with the World Population Stabilization Fortnight (July 11–24) celebrations, malaria awareness cum free health camp was organized by District Health Society, East Kameng at Bulla camp (Watte) in the district on July 19. Of the total of 200 blood samples taken, 50 were detected to have been suffering from malaria, official sources informed here today. The camp was conducted by a team of medical and para–medical staff led by district malaria officer Dirang Pizi, district surveillance officer Kopi Gyadi and medical officers D Kamchi and O Peyang. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Nyage Gyadi, DMO stressed on delivery of child in hospitals for better health of both mother and child. He appealed the PRI members, GBs & ASHAs for community mobilization and support to the medical staff in any health related programmes. Dr K Lapung, DRCHO while giving a deliberation on advantages of population stabilization and its preventive measures said that ‘delay the first, space the second and stop the third’. The district malaria officer explained in detail about the preventive measures, symptoms of malaria, and also about dengue. Ganio Sango Taku, Anchal Chairperson while thanking the medical team for providing health services at their doorsteps asked the people to follow the advice of the doctors for a healthy life.
