Mangalore to get Rs 25,000-crore SEZ soon

Industries Minister P.G.R. Sindhia said that the creation of a Rs 25,000 crore special economic zone (SEZ) in Mangalore following an agreement between Karnataka Government and ONGC would become a reality soon. The required notifications to be made by the Government fulfilling the formalities would be issued within three months. Speaking to reporters after a review meeting of his department, he said the creation of such a zone was essential for the overall economic development of both the coastal and Malnad regions of the State. It would also provide one lakh direct and indirect employment opportunities.
