The Manipal Heart Foundation has completed 1,000 major heart surgeries in nine months. Dr. Devi Shetty, Vice-Chairman, said that the surgeries, which had fetched about Rs. 6 crores, had enabled the hospital to break even, without any cash loss. A leading financial institution is giving a grant of Rs 7.5 crores to the hospital for its expansion plans, which will include four operating rooms and 25 intensive therapy units.
