While the Cogentrix power company, which has proposed to set up a 1,000 MW power project at Nandikoor near Mangalore, has stepped up its attempts to woo the local people through its "welfare" measures, it has been severely criticised by local activists who argue that such measures do not answer the fundamental questions raised by them on the project.
