The Union Ministry for Non-Conventional Energy Sources (MNES) is in the process of preparing a medium-term renewable energy programme to boost the share of power from renewable sources from the present 1.5 per cent of the national total to 10 per cent by 2012.The programme will be a part of the overall national renewable energy policy being prepared by the Ministry, according to its annual report for the year 1998-99.
