Meghalaya annual Plan fixed at Rs 800 crore

The annual Plan of Meghalaya for 2005-06 has been determined at Rs 800 crore which includes one-time additional Central assistance of Rs 51 crore for special projects of importance to the State. The Deputy Chairman Planning Commission, Dr Montek Singh Ahluwalia, and the State Chief Minister, Mr M.D.D. Lapang, finalised the Plan size of Meghalaya at a meeting here today. The Plan panel suggested upgradation of mineral exploration and early implementation of growth schemes. The State Government was advised to pay focussed attention on agriculture, horticulture, tourism and information technology.
