The UK's nascent offshore wind-energy industry took a significant step forward when John Battle, energy minister, launched a consultation paper on how the technology can best be supported by government. The government is asking for views on how to incorporate offshore wind energy into the Non-Fossil Fuel Obligation Order process, the government's main vehicle for supporting renewables in their early stages.
