The Union power minitry has decided to execute the 3,960 mw Hirma power project in Orissa, the first mega power project in India. The Rs 16,000 crore inter-state project, promoted by the Consolidated Electric Power of Asia, will be developed in two phases and will sell power to the Power Trading Corporation.
