Russia's space station Mir will crash into the south Pacific Ocean at a top speed of 7,935 meters per second on Friday, which has been set as the orbiter's demise day, a leading Russian space expert said Tuesday in Moscow. The whole process of Mir's splashdown from the last descent orbit to the ocean will take about an hour, deputy mission flight director Viktor Blagov told reporters at the Mission Control Center outside Moscow.
