Japan's Ministry of International Trade and Industry plans to revise the set of Japanese Industrial Standards (JIS) by spring 2000. The new standards will recommend manufacturers of home appliances to indicate on a label the extent to which their products have reached certain energy-efficiency targets, MITI sources said.
