New Delhi: The first monorail link in the capital may come up in West Delhi providing connectivity to far-flung areas like Baprola, which is still off the metro map, but is being groomed to be the next big business hub. The monorail will be a crucial mode of transport to Baprola, which will house the hitech knowledge park. This area is beyond the Dwarka metro station, the last stop on the DMRC Line 3. The Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC) has commissioned RITES as consultant to carry out a techno-economic feasibility study and a detailed project report. The proposal will then be placed before the state government for consideration. Spread over 63.97 acres, the Baprola project will provide room for industry and provide direct employment to over 1 lakh people and indirect employment to 1,70,000 people. A housing complex spread over 4.9 acres may also come up here. RITES will prepare a feasibility report on the 4.5-km alignment between the Dwarka Mor metro station to the site of the knowledge industry hub. The consultant is expected to deliver its report by August 15. The corporation will be paying RITES almost Rs 1 crore to get the feasibility and detailed project reports. The preliminary report shows that once the complex becomes functional in three to four year
