Two more cracks and another three small areas of damage have been found in the stainless steel pipe that leaked radioactive cooling water at a nuclear power station operated by Japan Atomic Power Co. (Genden) in Tsuruga, Fukui Prefecture, the operator said Thursday. The number of cracks and points of damage found in the pipe now total seven, including the two cracks found in the previous investigation. All the cracks were found in an L-shaped section linking the pipe to a regenerated-heat exchanger in the station's No.2 reactor.
