UN officials say that Iraqi children are dying as a result of poor health care, nutrition and sanitation. The UN's children agency believes a third of all children under five are chronically malnourished: a rise of 72% over 1991. This is reflected in a higher incidence of such diseases as diarrhoea and pneumonia.
