expert: There was an urgent need for India to carry out further reforms in the power sector in order to increase efficienty, improve quality of service and reduce tax burden, Prof. Stephen C. Littlechild, former Director-General of Electricity Supply, the United Kingdom, said here today. "While other countries are benefiting from reform, why cannot India do so", he queried. Delivering the Sixth Foundation day Lecture of Tata Energy Research Institute (TERI) on 'Privatisation, Competition and regulation of the British Electricity Industry, with some Implications for India', Prof. Littlechild said that while India faced greater challenges in the energy sector, the resultant gains would also be greater.
