Women who have had unsafe or unprotected sex can now look forward to the Morning After pill or emergency contraception, which prevents pregnancy if taken in prescribed dosage, within 72 hours. Further trials have been initiated to find out the efficacy of emergency contraceptive pills upto five days of sexual contact, to prevent abortions and unwanted pregnancies.
