Vijayawada has been included in the mosquito eradication drive, a nationwide programme to be taken up by the Union government next year. The project, estimated at Rs 860 crore, is being taken up for the first time in the country. It is learnt that the Centre has chalked out a programme to launch the mosquito eradication drive on the lines of pulse polio programme.
