MoU on Gasohol likely to be signed with Brazil

India and Brazil might sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for starting Gasohol project involving blending of ethanol (extracted from sugarcane) with gasoline for use as transport fuel, according to Union Petroleum minister Ram Naik. Mr. Nail, who is leading a high-level delegation of members of Parliament, sugar technologists and members of oil industry to Brazil to study the Latin American country's expertise in blending ethanol with petrol, said the possibility of blending ethanol with diesel would also be jointly explored by the two countries.
