State Finance Minister Col Ajay Narayan Mushran presented the Budget for the year 2003-04, in the Assembly here on Monday. It is the 10th annual budget in a row with a deficit of Rs 559.91 crore. A significant aspect of the budget is that Madhya Pradesh along with 27 other states would introduce the system of Value Added Tax (VAT) from April 1,2003, informed Col Mushran. According to him taxation proposals would yield a sum of Rs 170 crore.
