MP to tie up with NPCIL for regular power supply

A Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan here on Monday took several important decisions, including uninterrupted power supply in the state and top-level coaching to players. The Cabinet decided to sign a long-term MoU with Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) for purchase of 2100 megawatts of power from its Proposed Chutka (Mandla district) and Bheempur (Shivpuri district) plants at fixed rate. The agreement will ensure 700 mw of power power from Chutka plant and 1400 mw from Bheempur plant. The Cabinet also sanctioned purchase or of 400 mw power from October 2012 to March 2014 to ensure 24-hour power supply to consumers from 2013. The State Government will make available working capital to the Madhya Pradesh Power Management Corporation for purchase of power during the period. The cabinet also endorsed Rs 6016.17 crore action plan of Madhya Pradesh's power companies during the 12th Five-Year Plan. This includes Rs 2631.56 crore project of Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company, Rs 344 crore project of Power Transmission Company and Rs 936.42 crore, Rs 1006.67 crore and Rs 1027.52 crore projects of Madhya Pradesh Eastern region, Central region and Western region Power Distribution Companies, respectively. The Cabinet also sanctioned relief and rehabilitation package for 2 X 660 mw capacity mega thermal power project being set up by NTPC at Selda, Balabad and Dalchi villages in Barwah tahsil of Khargone district. Madhya Pradesh will receive 50 per cent power generated by the project. The project would lead to establishment of small and major industries in the nearby areas. Besides, employment opportunities would become available to local people and basic amenities would also improve. The Cabinet also decided to employ experts to impart coaching at sports academies. The cabinet decided to avail services of experts for top-level coaching at the state's sports academies. Experts' services would be taken for cricket academy at Gwalior, equestrian, shooting, wrestling, sailing and hockey Academies at Bhopal. Experts would be nominated on merit basis by an empowered committee headed by the departmental Secretary.
