MPCRPDC undertakes Rs 106 cr works to improve power supply

In order to improve electricity supply Madhya Pradesh Central Region Power Distribution Company has taken various steps in 16 districts. The company informed that works worth Rs 106 crore are underway at Guna and Ashok Nagar districts, which are being carried out by NECL (NTPC). Similarly, work orders worth Rs 96 crore were released in the month of May for Harda and Betul districts. The Company has developed a work scheme to reduce the line loss in urban areas, under which the company has set a target of reducing the losses by 15 per cent during the year 2009. To attain this target feeder and transformer wise allocations have been made among top officials to line staff. Meter reading through remote system The meter reading of high-tension consumers is being performed through "remote meter reading" by the company. Currently, the meter reading of 1050 high-tension consumers of Bhopal and Gwalior area and 75 high value consumers is being taken by "AMR" every month. Works proposed under ADB scheme Establishment works of nearly 588 capacitor banks, the estimated cost of which is Rs 41 crore, are proposed under this scheme in Bhopal and Gwalior areas. High Tension Power Distribution System Works of High Tension Power Distribution System with estimated cost of Rs 45 crore are being carried out at Bhopal, Gwalior, Morena and Ambah. Works under High Tension Power Distribution System of estimated cost Rs 230 crore have been proposed in Bhopal, Bareli, Hoshangabad, Itarsi, Piparia and Harda divisions. 82 no. works for 11 kv feeders have been proposed under this scheme. Remote metering The metering work of consumers of 25 hp and above such as petrol pumps, Banks, colleges, post offices, water works and others is proposed to be carried out through remote metering system. The remote metering of approximately 839 HT consumers, 2995 LT consumers and 4560 consumers of essential services under this work. Renovation works of substations 469 no of 33/11 kv electricity substations at Bhopal and Gwalior regions have been proposed to be renovated under this scheme. At least 1904 substations of 11 kv vcv, 492 of 33 kv vcv at an estimated cost of Rs 140 crore are proposed to be renovated under this scheme. Feeder division A decision of feeder division has been taken to provide electricity supply with high quality to rural domestic consumers and ample electricity to agricultural consumers. A proposal at the cost of 3090 crore by MPKVV was sent to government to carry out feeder division of all 16 districts, 80 tehsils, 109 municipalities and Nagar Panchayats and 15729 villages. Rs 35 crore have been allocated by the government for the year 2008-09 under this scheme.
