VASCO: Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) Deputy Chairman Guruprasad Rai on Wednesday said that he was not only unhappy with but also surprised at the decision of Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) cancelling public hearing (scheduled on April 25) on the proposed development of Vasco bay.
“I came to know about the cancellation of the public hearings only through newspapers today. In its notice, the GSPCB has claimed that we have not submitted the complete copy of EIA report. In fact we, had submitted the EIA report in the month of November but we are surprised to note that, it took more than five months for the board to give its reply and this clearly shows that the board wants to delay the public hearing,” Rai said and regretted that the GSPCB has written to the collector that the entire EIA should be translated and copies of the same should be given to them.
