The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) assured Bombay High Court that dogs in the city will not be killed indiscriminately, but only when they pose a danger to public health. Acting on this assurance, the High Court has set aside the August 4 mayor-in-Council (MiC) resolution that proposed to kill strays for effective dog control and management in Mumbai. But, many NGOs had protested BMC's move to kill stray dogs, and Viniyog Parivar Trust, a group working for the cause of animals, challenged the decision in the High Court.
