study : An epidemiological study has found nuclear installations at Tarapur in Maharashtra to be benign. Similar studies are now on at the other atomic power stations and research centres in the country. The study conducted by the Tata Memorial Centre (TMC) on effects of low-dose ionizing radiation among the employees at the Tarapur Atomic Power Station and other installations of the Department of Atomic Energy has shown that there is no increase in cancer prevalence in the radiation workers as compared to the non radiation workers, nor is there excess of cancer prevalence in the spouses and offspring of the employees as compared to relavent control groups.
