The first 250 MW unit of National Hydroelectric Power Corporation's (NHPC) prestigious 1,500 MW Nathpa-Jhakri hydro-power project in Rampur area of Shimla district was successfully synchronised with the grid. The successful synchronisation of the first unit has paved the way for commercial production of power which would commence very soon, Sutlej Jal Nigam statement quoted its chairman, Y N Apparoo, as saying.
