Nestle Lanka Company, was awarded Silver by Environment Minister, Anura P Yapa at the National Green Awards 2011 held recently. A first time applicant for the awards this year, the company was the only Food and Beverage manufacturer in Sri Lanka to be honoured at the country's main environmental awards event. "We at Nestle are very excited to be honoured at the National Green Awards" said Alois Hofbauer, Managing Director for Nestl‚ Lanka PLC. "We are proud to be recognized by the Central Environmental Authority (CEA) for environmentally friendly operations; it is a reflection of our successful ambition to Create Shared Value with the communities we touch at every step of our operations," he said. The National Green Awards was organized by the Central Environmental Authority (CEA) of Sri Lanka to recognize the environmental services rendered by organizations in the country and also to encourage local companies to be more environmentally active.
