The Assam Government announced a series of developmental schemes to be implemented in the next 18 months, apparently with the 2006 State Assembly polls in mind. The Minister of State for Finance and Planning and Development, Himanta Biswa Sarma today announced that an amount of Rs 500 crore would be spent on the Chief Minister's Special Development scheme in the next 18 months, which include development of roads and improvement of the power sector.
