Scientists working on different combinations of cost-effective and eco-friendly alternative fuels have struck upon a novel cocktail of alcohols and gasoline that can power vehicles more efficiently than petrol or diesel.The golden blend made by mixing gasoline with either of the two abundantly available and renewable alcohols - methanol and ethanol - can increase the efficiency of four stroke, four cylinder engines by over 27 per cent, scientists at the mechanical engineering department of Jadavpur University said.
