New pollution monitor

A Swedish firm on Friday displayed some modern techniques for monitoring air quality. In the system currently used in Delhi, air samples are collected and then analysed for their deadly contents. But in the new DOAS differential optical absorption spectroscopy system used in the Swedish machines, a beam of light from an emitter passes through the air path and falls on a receiver. The receiver is connected to an analyser, which then measures the levels of the various pollutants in the air.
