Grama Vikas, a women's organisation, has taken up desilting of 11 tanks that are vital for the 120 villages of Kolar district. The NGO, that is working in the villages of Mulbagal and Bangarpet taluks, has so far collected Rs 55 lakh from its 5,200 members for desilting the tanks. Members had contributed Rs 15 for the fund twice a month for 10 years.
