The US and eight other countries have agreed to pursue Generation IV nuclear power systems, to be deployed in the next 20 years, to meet increased demand for electricity. In a joint statement, the countries agreed to begin investigation of Generation IV nuclear power systems, representing economically competitive, advanced nuclear reactor technology.
