A controversial high-dose chemotherapy treatment for breast cancer appears to be no better than conventional chemotherapy , according to a new study by researchers in the Netherlands. In the study, researchers at the Netherlands Cancer Institute compared standard chemotherapy with a new regimen that uses such highdoses of the toxic anti-cancer drugs that the blood-forming cells of the bone marrow are destroyed and must be replaced with infusions of new marrow cells.
