Spurning the offer to develop captive coal mines, the National Thermal Power Corporation has reached an agreement with the Coal India Ltd for its three upcoming projects with combined capacity of 5,500 MW. Coal ministry had earlier conveyed to the power ministry its decision to allow the NTPC captive coal mines for two mega power projects of 2000 MW each at Barh and North Karampura in Bihar, highly placed power ministry sources said.
