Even though India faces the immense danger from poisonous pesticides imported from western world, there is no data bank on the nearly 70,000 compounds which could cause human death. The issue was discussed in the recently held meeting of International Congress of Medical Toxicology and Legal Medicine Experts . After detailed deliberations over the issue, it had been recommended that a National Poison Control Centre should be set up, which could provide data on the poisonous compounds and related study.
