Apprehending dip in revenue collections, the government is planning to shelve its earlier proposals to grant infrastructure status to power transmission and petro-pipeline sectors for the current fiscal. The parent ministries of both these core sectors, petroleum and power had made a case for granting infrastructure status to these sectors in view of the required investments both in the public and private sector. However, sources informed that the finance ministry is unlikely to award this status within this fiscal as this would lead to a further decline in revenue income.
