The government has clarified that there was no proposal to set up a hydro-electric power project in Kerala that environmentalists allege would affect the Silent valley national park. "There is no proposal of a hydroelectric power project (at Pathrakadavu in Palakkad district) pending before the ministry for environmental clearance," A Raja, minister for environment and forest, said in the Lok Sabha.
