Non-conventional energy gets acceptability

Frequent power shortages coupled with rising electricity tariff in many parts of the country in 1998 helped enhance acceptability of new and renewable energy sources as clean, safe and steady alternative. The industry became increasingly aware of the cost and environmental benefits of wind power over the thermal variety as financial institutions funding more wind energy projects, sanctioning over Rs 125 crore between April and September.
