With an aim to check encroachment of forest land and human movement in core forest zone, the state government approved creation of buffer zone in Dudhwa National Park that would, in turn, give an impetus to the Project Tiger.
The buffer zone would comprise nearly 150 km long stretch of North Kheri division under which Dudhwa National Park fell.
This region had witnessed a worst kind of human-animal conflict early this year when Tigers from the Dudhwa National Park strayed into the adjoining villages lying in the core forest zone.
Over two dozen incidents of animal attacks were reported in which seven persons were killed. The irate villagers killed two tigers, one of them was charred to death in Dhauraura village in Kheri when it entered a house.
The buffer zone would help in segregating the human habitats from the forest zone.
North Khiri Divisional Forest Officer KK Singh said that state government had agreed in principle for creation of buffer zone of the park.
A detailed report would be sent to the government in that connection, he said.
