A Nagoya refinery is suspected of illegally exporting more than 50,000 tons of toxic industrial waste to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea) since 1990, Asahi Shimbun learned over the weekend. The refinery is suspected of overlooking laws on waste disposal when they shipped the aluminum residue, which emits toxic gases such as ammonia chlorine and hydrogen sulfide when mixed with water, to the reclusive state.
